  1. Hong Kong Banned Books Exhibition (Provided by VSSDM)

The exhibition features banned books from Hong Kong and China, explores freedom to read and freedom of expression in Canada, and introduces banned titles available in the Richmond Public Library’s collection for public access.

Speakers

Professor Kin-man Chan earned his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1995 and is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan. He is the founding president of the Taiwan Society for Hong Kong Studies.

Mr. Ernie Shue Fung Chow is a doctoral student in the Department of History at the University of British Columbia.

Guest Moderator and Speaker

Director Yan Wai Lo

Director Yan Wai Lo is an experienced journalist who has held positions at RTHK, TVB, ATV,

and Fairchild TV. She directed the documentary Vanished Archives, which investigates the

disappearance of key public records related to the 1967 Hong Kong riots.
