Through Jimmy Lai’s life and experiences, this event will explore the relationship between faith, personal conviction, freedom of expression, and the courage to stand up for one’s beliefs in the face of political pressure. As Hong Kong’s freedoms continue to come under threat, Lai’s story raises important questions about the cost of dissent, the future of press freedom, and the universal struggle for human rights and democracy.

Mark Clifford will share insights into Lai’s life, his commitment to his principles, and the circumstances surrounding his imprisonment under Hong Kong’s National Security Law. The conversation will be followed by a discussion moderated by Edmund Wan (傑斯), and Edmund Leung, Chair of the Vancouver Society in Support of Democratic Movement (VSSDM).

Join us for an engaging discussion on the meaning of freedom, the power of individual conviction, and why Jimmy Lai’s story matters to Hong Kong and the world.
