10 Years in Prison! Where Are Hong Kong’s Democracy and Freedom?

Today (November 5), Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Hong Kong court. This harsh sentence is yet another painful reminder of the severe crackdown on democracy, human rights and freedom in Hong Kong.

Since his youth, Joshua Wong has consistently spoken out and fought for democracy and freedom in Hong Kong. In the face of such an unjust and lengthy prison sentence, we cannot remain silent, nor can we allow the international community to forget Hong Kong.

We invite Hongkongers in Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver area, together with all friends who care about Hong Kong, to stand with us in a peaceful rally to express our outrage and concern, and to show solidarity with Joshua Wong and all Hong Kong political prisoners who have been persecuted for their political beliefs and activism.

Let the world hear the voices of Hongkongers!
